Chito is a small community of coffee producers in Zamora Chinchipe, in southeastern Ecuador near the Peruvian border. Many of the 55 farmers here have traditionally sold their coffee locally at lower prices, with limited access to the global market.
In 2021, Cafexporto — led by Juan Peña of Hacienda La Papaya — began working with producers in Chito to help bring their coffees to a wider audience. Alongside market access, this partnership has focused on improving quality through agronomy support and the introduction of higher-quality varieties like Typica, Sidra, and Geisha. This lot reflects that ongoing work.
In the cup: Round and approachable, with notes of apple and nougat, a syrupy sweetness, and a soft citrus lift.
